Reaching a full 120km over single-mode fiber, the GLC-ZX-SM-120 is a long-haul 1G ZX SFP for point-to-point spans that leave the metro. That extended reach is its defining trait; it terminates in a duplex LC and drives 1G across the single-mode plant end to end. At 120km it is the optic you reach for when the two endpoints sit far apart on dark fiber and a standard long-reach part cannot bridge the distance, so the whole link budget is built around this reach. It comes up on Cisco platforms as a factory optic with no configuration and passes traffic as soon as it seats.
