J4858D HP Compatible 1G SFP SX 550m MMF Transceiver

HP's J4858 series is one of the longest-running SFP part-number families in enterprise networking, and the J4858D is its current revision — the same 1000BASE-SX role the A, B, and C revisions filled before it. If a switch config or BOM calls for any J4858-series optic, this is the drop-in for the D spec.

It runs 1G over multimode fiber at 850nm, reaching 550m on OM2 through a duplex LC connection — the standard building-and-campus link length for gigabit aggregation. DDM/DOM is supported, so the module reports live optical levels to the host.

Each unit ships MSA-compliant, with pre-shipment verification of EEPROM/MSA values, DOM thresholds, serial number, and connector-end cleanliness. Compliance documentation (RoHS declaration, IEC 60825-1 laser classification) is available on request for project quotes.
