HP switching hardware is what the JG709A is matched to: TenFourOptics supplies it as a compatible equivalent of the HP part, a 40G QSFP+ ESR4 optic driving 400m over multimode fiber at 850nm through an MPO-12 UPC connection. It is rated for operation from 0 to 70°C (32 to 158°F), and its 400m multimode reach gives extended in-building runs more headroom than most structured cabling will ever call on. The MPO-12 UPC interface picks up existing multimode trunk cabling, so exchanging the HP original for this module leaves both ends of the run untouched.
