Where a host is built for the Cisco SFP-BX-80-U on a single-fiber run, the SFP-BX-80-U matches that part and brings the link up cleanly. It is a 1G BiDi SFP reaching 80km over one strand of single-mode fiber, serving as the BX-U (upstream) unit that terminates one end of a BiDi pair through a simplex LC connector. Seated in a standard SFP cage on Cisco equipment, it is coded to enumerate as a native module with no configuration required, and it reports live optical diagnostics over DDM. Carrying both directions on a single strand lets the 80km span run without a second fiber — the reason BiDi is chosen on long access and subscriber links.
